You simply remove the crank handle from underneath the stock, disengage the crank and bring the cocking mechanism forward onto the string. Cocking the Turbo GTĬocking the Turbo GT was an absolute breeze using the ACUdraw crank cocker. ![]() As always, if you add suppressors, we recommend that you don’t overlook the stirrup, as much of the sound and vibrations end up focused on the furthest point forward of the crossbow. Also, adding limb and frame suppressors will further cut the sound. There is no integrated suppression system, so looking in to a set of string stops wouldn’t be a bad idea if you plan to hunt with it. The Turbo GT is reasonably quiet given the high draw weight, but you will still notice a bit of snap when you shoot. We are sure we could get these up a bit more with a bit of tinkering, but these are not shabby at all for a crossbow shot right out of the box! Keep in mind, these are real world numbers and not just a manufacturer’s claimed numbers. These produced measured arrow speeds of 333 fps, 334 fps and 334 fps. The arrows we tested weighed in at 427.8 grains, 427.9 grains and 428.4 grains (including a 100 grain practice point). TenPoint has created a crossbow with plenty of power to hunt just about anything you want to. The Turbo GT did a good job of putting the arrow where we were aiming and a three shot group (after sighting in) was all in the bullseye. Again, a great feature for shooters of all skill levels. The Dry Fire Inhibitor will ensure the Turbo GT cannot accidently be fired without an arrow in place and the auto safety means that the shooter will always have the safety in the ‘on’ position after cocking, and must manually disengage the safety to fire. The fact that the trigger guard does not go all the way behind the trigger is a bit different, but when you realize that means you can still shoot this while wearing heavy gloves, it begins to make a lot more sense. The integrated raised cheek rest is very comfortable and puts your face right where it should be to make repeatable, accurate shots. Please note that the retaining bolt for the bow assembly comes in the tool pouch with the allen wrenches and lube, so don’t look for it to be preinstalled at the end of the barrel! Also, keep in mind, there will be a bit of wiggle required to get the bow assembly to fit properly onto the stock, but it isn’t very difficult. Be sure that you lube up the cable guide before installation to ensure there is no resistance as it slides into place. These are actually much longer and wider than on most crossbows and should cut any chance of wandering fingers or thumbs from entering the string path.Īssembly was fairly easy and straight forward. A feature we really liked is the oversize reinforced nylon safety wings. The forward grip is partially skeletonized to save on weight and has a nice wide feel when you grip it with your forward hand. It is also a very solid and well-built crossbow…something you can feel when you remove the stock from the package. ![]() It has a high quality camo design that you can tell isn’t going to fade or peel. TenPoint has done a great job with the Turbo GT. First Impressions: Design, Safety, Comfort and Accuracy It has since been dethroned by a Ravin product. Note: the TenPoint Turbo GT held a spot on our best crossbows list between September 2016 and July 2019. If you order one without an integrated cocking aid, TenPoint does include a rope cocking aid with the crossbow package. The Turbo GT we received came with the ACUdraw crank cocking device.
